10 ways to maintain the security of your data,
your workstation and the entire ASU network
- Do not share your passwords with anyone.
- Do not write down your passwords.
- Change your passwords often (even more often than required).
- Choose a strong password–one that contains numbers, letters (upper- and lower-case), special characters and is at least eight characters long
- Lock Windows every time you leave your workstation unattended (Press CTRL-ALT-DEL simultaneously).
- Avoid questionable websites.
- Do not download anything from non-work-related websites.
- Do not open emails (and especially attachments) from unknown or unexpected senders.
- Avoid leaving portable devices such as laptops or handhelds unattended unless they are physically secured.
- Do not transport sensitive data on devices such as laptops or memory sticks that can be lost or stolen.
