What is Camp Tontozona?

Camp Tontozona, an Arizona State University property, is a 36-acre camp nestled in a forest setting and consisting of various sized cabins, a large dormitory, dining hall, meeting rooms, football fields, creek, and hiking paths.

Where is it located?

Camp Tontozona is approximately 100 miles northeast of the ASU Tempe Campus. The camp is nestled in the cool pines of the Tonto National Forest about seventeen miles east of Payson off State Route 260. View Camp Tontozona Directions

Who can use Camp Tontozona?

All ASU faculty, staff, alumni and retirees can use Camp T for personal and family activities. Student groups, football camp, geology camp, graduate students, alumni, other university, non-profit organizations and select off-campus groups may also use Camp Tontozona.

When is Camp Tontozona open?

Camp Tontozona is open year-round, weather permitting. Heavy snowfall during winter months occasionally causes temporary closure.

How do I make reservations?

Reservations can be made up to one year in advance. We suggest that you make reservations as early as possible. A deposit is required to secure your reservation. What do the cabins cost?

Rates vary depending on cabin size and time of year. Group rates are available for groups of 20 or more persons. View rates for more information.

What else do I need to know?

Fishing is permitted with a fishing license (including Trout stamp) in Tonto Creek. Tonto Creek is located on Tonto National Forest property. Campfires are permitted only at designated locations with the approval of the camp caretaker. Pets are not permitted at Camp Tontozona.

Is catering available for my reservation?

Yes, catering is available through Fitch Catering. You can contact Cindy Fitch at 928.478.4623. They offer personalized, friendly service and a variety of menus to match any appetite or budget. The catering staff will coordinate all aspects of the dining experience, ensuring that events are organized and comfortable for guests. The catering service will be happy to create a menu that meets your individual or group needs.
