Emergency Plan (EP) Template Introduction
The objective of the emergency plan template is to provide the ASU campus community with a template that can be utilized in the development of building and/or department specific emergency preparedness plans.
For each campus a template has been created in Word for simplicity and ease of use. The template is divided into eight sections and links to each section and most sub-sections are provided in PDF format as examples. Any campus entity can utilize the templates by down loading the appropriate campus Word Template and saving it to the local computer.
To use the template, after downloading and saving, it is recommended that an EP and/or Facility Committee (with representation from each department or organization in the facility) be formed and an administrator be assigned the task of adding necessary building and /or department specific information to the form. Closely following the Table of Contents section by section and providing the necessary information in each section will aid in the successful completion of an effective evacuation plan.
Each section provides vital information that is either, generic in nature and self explanatory or invites the user to add building and/or department specific information to complete the plan. Some sections offer examples of forms in suggested formats that can be augmented with user specific information.
Once the emergency evacuation plan is completed it must be approved by the ASU Fire Marshall, Jim Gibbs. Upon final approval the plan is meant to be printed and placed into a binder. Copies must be made available for all managers and supervisors. In addition to use during emergency evacuations, the EP will also be utilized for training all building and/or department employees and for practice fire drills.
If there are any further questions please email them to ASU Fire Marshall at EHS@asu.edu.
