Electrical Services
Electrical Services installs, maintains and repairs the University's electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution systems, building electrical systems, fire and intrusion alarms, and various electrical and electronic equipment.
Use the Service Request Form to make a new request. For general inquiries regarding ongoing work or cost estimates, please contact our Service Center during regular business hours (6:30 am through 5:00 pm M-F).
Some of the regular maintenance projects performed by the Electric Shop are:
- Replacing and repairing of interior and exterior lamps and fixtures (does not include desk, table or floor lamps)
- Repair and reset of existing fire alarms
- Repair exhaust fans and fume hoods
- Replace diffusers on light fixtures
- Maintain the primary electrical system and the campus high voltage distribution system for auxiliaries
- Replace outlets and wall switches
- Reset tripped circuit breakers
- Replace breakers in academic buildings
Chargeable services provided by the Electric Shop:
- Upgrading existing or installing new light fixtures, lighting equipment or receptacles
- Installing cabling for computer equipment
- Repair electrical problems related to electric ovens, stoves, garbage disposals, sterilizers, centrifuges and other departmental owned equipment
- Repair electric carts
- Repair desk, table or floor lamps
- Install or repair wall clocks
- Install/repair intrusion alarms
- Repair or replace power distribution auxiliaries (e.g. transformers, service entry sections)
