Parking & Transportation FAQs

All Campuses

Q: What if I want to use a car cover to protect my vehicle while it is parked?
Vehicles with car covers parked on campus must be able to be partially removed by field enforcement staff to verify license plate (at all times) and permit validity. However, the following alternatives are allowed:

  • A hole may be cut in front windshield area of car cover to allow staff to view permit hanging from rearview mirror or affixed to windshield.
  • Permit may be affixed to car cover in the area of the back window.
  • Permanent permit may be affixed to conversion hanger and secured with lock on locking car covers.

Q: How long do I have to pay my parking citation?
Payment for a parking citation is due upon issuance of the citation. If payment for a parking citation is not received within 30 days, a late fee is assessed and additional late fees are assessed every 30 days until payment is received. PTS does send unpaid citations to collections and additional fees may apply.

Tempe Campus

Q: Is my Lot 59N permit valid in Lot 59?
No. Your Lot 59N permit is valid only in Lot 59N until cross-parking hours begin at 4pm. Similarly, Lot 59E permits are only valid in Lot 59E until 4pm.

Q: I have a motorcycle permit, but I occasionally want to bring my car to campus instead. Can I do this?
Yes. You may request a conversion hanger from PTS that allows you to secure the permit to your motorcycle and then transfer it to your vehicle and park in Lot 59. Conversely, if you have a structure permit for your vehicle but want to occasionally bring a motorcycle to campus, you can pick up this same conversion placard to use for parking in the motorcycle spaces within your assigned structure.

Downtown Phoenix Campus

Q: Can I safely ride my bicycle downtown?
At various times, there may be several projects under construction downtown that require street closures and lane restrictions. It may not be safe for you to ride your bike in those areas. We encourage you to take great care in riding your bike in those areas while obeying all traffic signs and signals and staying alert to construction vehicles and crews. Always wear and helmet and use a headlight and tail light.

Q: Can I ride my skateboard downtown?
The City of Phoenix prohibits skateboarding in downtown Phoenix. This also applies to the areas in and around the ASU Downtown Phoenix Campus.

Q: As on the Tempe Campus, is disabled parking at the Downtown Phoenix Campus all-access?
DPC disabled all-access permits provide access to ALL disabled parking stalls on ALL four campuses. At DPC, disabled stalls are located in the Nursing & Healthcare Innovation and University Center garages.

Q: Which lots can I park in with my brown residential permit on the Polytechnic Campus? Is my brown residential permit valid on any other campus?

Q: How long does it take for the intercampus shuttle to get from the Polytechnic Campus to the Tempe Campus?
Approximately one hour; please allow ample time for the commute.
