Parking & Transportation FAQs: Light Rail

Q: How do I get from the METRO transit stops to my final destination on the Tempe Campus?
See the list of METRO stations below to find the quickest route to your final destination on the Tempe Campus.

University Drive & Rural Road Stop: Passengers can reach campus by:
  • Boarding the FLASH Forward or Back shuttle, McAllister shuttle or Orbit Jupiter shuttle, all of which pick up at this station, in order to get around campus.
  • Walking directly west on Tyler Street and arrive near the psychology building within minutes.

Veterans Way & College Avenue Stop: Passengers can reach campus by:

  • Walking south along College Avenue, crossing over University Drive and arriving near the Fulton Center and GIOS buildings.
  • Taking a City of Tempe Orbit shuttle. All Orbit routes stop at the Tempe Transportation Center, also located on Veterans Way and College Avenue. The Jupiter route circulates around campus; the Mercury and Earth routes travel along University Drive.

Mill Avenue & Third Street Stop: All FLASH routes stop here. After exiting, take one of three shuttles:

  • FLASH Back: Takes passengers directly south on Mill to Gammage Parkway (near the Student Services Building), south on Forest Avenue to Apache Boulevard, east on Apache to McAllister Avenue, and then north on McAllister Avenue back to Lot 59. It also stops at the light rail station at University Drive and Rural Road. This is the quickest way around campus.
  • FLASH Forward: Stops on the east side of Mill Avenue and goes directly north to Lot 59.
  • FLASH to University Drive*: Stops on the west side of Mill Avenue and transports passengers to the core of campus by going east on University Drive.

*Please note, the FLASH to University Drive shuttle does not operate during semester breaks or summer sessions.

Q: If I choose not to get an ASU U-Pass, how do I pay for a trip on the METRO?
ASU students and employees who plan to board the light rail or a Valley Metro bus more than two round-trips per week are encouraged to obtain an ASU U-Pass, as this is the most economical choice. However, if you ride light rail infrequently, you can purchase passes directly from Valley Metro.
