Parking and Transit Services is pleased to provide free parking in various convenient locations on campus for ASU graduation attendees. Please review this information as well as the maps provided.

UNIVERSITY COMMENCEMENT

Wed, May 13
Commencement is the university-wide graduation ceremony that will feature President Obama delivering the Commencement address. For more information about the event, visit the university commencement website

Commencement Parking

General Public Parking: Most Tempe Campus parking lots and structures will be open to the public FREE of charge on commencement day.

Disabled Parking: Disabled parking will be available in the portion of Lot 59 located on the east side of Packard Drive and north of the Packard Drive South Structure. Vehicles must display a disabled placard or license plate. Commencement attendees who need disabled parking may look for posted signs, which will be monitored by University staff assisting with this event. 

Restricted Parking: Visitor lots, structures and meters will require payment. Parking is not permitted in Residence Hall lots, reserved, carpool or disabled stalls and other types of spaces that require a special permit.

Shuttles from Other ASU Campuses

Commencement Shuttles
PTS will operate FREE shuttles from the Downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic and West campuses to the Tempe Campus to accommodate commencement attendees.

Graduates and their guests who live in the far East Valley or West Valley are encouraged to park for free at the Polytechnic or West campus and then travel by way of the commencement shuttle to arrive at the Tempe campus.

Commencement shuttles will drop off at the Tempe campus at Rio Salado Parkway & Packard Drive, north of the north entrance to Sun Devil Stadium.

Intercampus Shuttles
The regular Polytechnic-Tempe and West-Tempe intercampus shuttles will operate during their standard hours of service, dropping passengers off at Forest Avenue & Lemon Street, until 2pm.

All shuttles leaving either the Polytechnic or West campus at 2pm or later will be primarily to service commencement and will drop passengers off at Rio Salado Parkway & Packard Drive, north of the north entrance to Sun Devil Stadium.

Tempe Campus Shuttles

The FLASH Forward, FLASH Back and FLASH to University Drive shuttles will operate from 7am-3pm on May 13. View routes.

The McAllister Shuttle will run from 6am-2pm.

All Tempe Campus shuttles are FREE of charge and do not require any type of pass or ticket to board.

Public Transportation

METRO light rail will operate on May 13. Commencement attendees are encouraged to park for free at any one of the eight park-and-ride lots located along the light rail line and board the METRO bound for the University Drive/Rural Road or Veterans Way/College Avenue stops.

The City of Tempe's Orbit shuttle system connects Tempe neighborhoods, shopping centers and other popular destinations with the ASU Tempe Campus. Orbit shuttles are FREE of charge and do not require any type of pass or ticket to board. View system map.

Street Closures

Several streets around the Tempe Campus will be closed or restricted on May 13. Please visit the City of Tempe website for updated street closure notices. Please expect traffic delays and plan your trip to Tempe accordingly.
