Definitions

Registration and Tuition - The fees charged to students for attending classes at the university.

Registration and Tuition Waivers - Primarily a form of financial aid awarded to students covering the registration and/or tuition portion of fees established by the Board of Regents. The waiver is based on merit and/or need as established by the university. Waivers are also granted to university employees and their spouses/dependents as a benefit of employment.

Economic Recovery Surcharge Resident 5211 05 Surcharge charged to resident students. The economic recovery surcharge is designed to recover a portion of the base budget funds lost as a result of General Fund budget reductions in FY09 and FY10.
Economic Recovery Surcharge Non-Resident 5211 06 Surcharge charged to resident students. The economic recovery surcharge is designed to recover a portion of the base budget funds lost as a result of General Fund budget reductions in FY09 and FY10.
Resident Tuition Waiver 5211 11 A financial aid award, based on merit and/or need, covering the registration portion of tuition and registration fees charged to resident students academic instruction.
Nonresident Tuition Waivers 5211 12 A financial aid award, based on merit and/or need, covering the registration portion of tuition and registration fees charged to non-resident students academic instruction.
Resident Tuition Waiver (Nonresident student) 5211 13 A financial aid award, based on merit and/or need, covering fees for academic instruction charged to non-resident students who are billed at a resident rate.

Economic Surcharge Non-Resident Waiver 5211 16 A financial aid award, based on merit and/or need, covering the economic surcharge fee charged to non-resident students.
Undistributed Tuition Waiver 5211 90 A financial aid award based on merit and or need covering fees for tuition and registration fees that has not been distributed to a specific waiver category.
