Q: What can my ASU Sun Card be used for?

Q: Is there a cost associated with my card?
Yes. All Sun Cards carry a $25 fee. Please note: Each card contains a unique chip that helps activate your door access and provide you with the extra security protection you need. If your card is lost or stolen, you must report it immediately. More information

Q: Is there a cost for replacing a lost or stolen Sun Card?
Yes. All replacement cards carry a $25 replacement fee. However, if you present a documented police report at the time of replacement that describes the details of your loss, ASU will waive the $25 replacement fee. Waived fees will not be granted after purchase has been made.   

Q: How do I obtain door access?
All Sun Card clients are entered into the door access system when they receive a card from the sun card office. Actual door access is granted by the door segment managers for each facility you require entrance to. The Sun Card office does not have the capability to grant a client access.

Q: What is a Sun Dollar account?
The Sun Dollar account is a pre-paid debit feature available on your ASU Sun Card. After opening an account, you can use your Sun Card to pay for textbooks, school and office supplies, laundry services, vending snacks, food at campus eateries, a recreation center workout and much more. Learn more

Q: Do I need a separate card for Sun Dollars?
No. Your Sun Dollar account is a free feature of the ASU Sun Card that you carry for identification.

Q: Why should I sign up for Sun Dollars?
Sun Dollars virtually eliminates the need to carry cash on campus. Just swipe and go. It’s fast. It’s easy. You can deposit money in your Sun Dollar account online. Sun Dollars also save you money through participating merchant discounts.

Q: How do enroll for Sun Dollars?
You don’t. Every active student has an account built into their card whether they decide to use Sun Dollars or not. Add money now

Q: Is there a minimum deposit to open an account?
Yes. The minimum deposit is $10.

Q: Can I add money to my Sun Dollars account at ASU Sun Card offices?
Yes, cash, check, Visa, MasterCard are accepted at the Sun Card offices.

Q: What other options are available for Sun Dollar deposits?
Both you and your guests have many options to add Sun Dollars to your Sun Card account. View self deposit and guest deposit options now.

Q: Can I view my account statement online?
Yes. You can see your balance and view activity, including date, location and transaction amount. Manage account now

Q: Can I receive a printed account statement?
Yes. However, as part of ASU’s green initiative, we prefer to send an email copy to you.

Q: Can I make cash withdrawals from my Sun Dollar account?
No. Sun Dollars are for the length of your stay and are only refunded when you leave the university. Please refer to our rules and responsibilities for more information.

Q: What if I find a discrepancy in my account statement?
Contact the Sun Card office immediately.

Q: What if I lose my ASU Sun Card – what happens to the money in my account?
Please review our lost/stolen Sun Card information. When you get a new card, your accounts will be available automatically.

Q: Do I get a refund if I leave the university and close my Sun Dollar account?
Yes. All refunds for students and employees are issued by check. Refunds are mailed to your permanent address on file with the university. It is the responsibility of the card holder to maintain accurate contact information, in order for the refund to be handled properly. Sun Dollar refunds may be submitted to our office by U.S. Postal Mail, Fax, or in person.  Please fill out the Sun Dollars refund form with your name, date, ten digit ID number, as well as your signature, and send to the following:
